How To Nail Your Pitch Your Single Friend Presentation

So your friend finally convinced you (or you convinced them) to book a ticket to our Pitch Your Single Friend event! Now it’s time for the fun part - making your presentation and successfully get them off the market. As the designated wingman / wingwoman, this may be one of the most important roles you’ll play in your life. Don’t fear, we are here to help with our top tips:

1. Cover the basics

First up, make sure your presentation covers everything prospective dates would want to know:

  • name, age, where they grew up and where they live now

  • where have they travelled, where’s next on their list?

  • what did they study / what do they do for work?

  • what are their hobbies?

  • do they have pets?

  • do they follow any team sports? or are they part of a team?

  • how would their friends and family describe them?

  • what’s the pin number to their bank card?

Pictures speak 1000 words - so feel free to use any candid photos to illuustrate the basics.

2. Paint a picture of their personality

This is where you can be more creative. The audience (prospective dates) want to be able to picture what dating them will be like, and maybe even what their future could look like. Some fun ways to do this is to:

  • Compare them to a tv character. Is he a Chandler looking for his Monica? Or is she Blair looking for her Chuck Bass (or even Dan Humphry?!)

  • Share a funny memory that gives the audience an insight into your friendship. This could a wild night out or a core childhood memory they thought was locked away, never to be repeated. Stories can give an idea of what type of friend they are and what their social life looks like.

  • Show their most played songs on spotify, their netflix or... recent search history. You can tell a lot about someone just by looking at how they spend their time online.

3. Tell us what they’re looking for

Now that the audience are starting to fall in love with your friend, you need to give them tips on how they can put their best foot forward when it’s time for them to approach your friend. Ways you can do this:

  • List the green flags your friend is looking for - dog lover? Foodie? Family orientated? Enjoys fitness? Be specific: “<Insert friend’s name> loves the outdoors and camping and is looking for someone who also doesn’t mind not showering for a few days”

  • Describe their ideal weekend once they’re boo’ed up. Are they a morning person? Can we expect morning runs and brunch? Or are we often out late at gigs, raves and concerts?

  • Why not get even more creative an use AI to create what their future family will look like? Many people are need help visualising their potential future kids, pets, house, etc… what would life with your friend look like?

4. Close the sale

Now it’s time to bring it home. Like any good wing-person, you need to sell in your friend and make sure that they are completely irresistable to say no to. Here are some popular sales tactics, while often used to sell cars and TVs, I don’t see why they wouldn’t work here too.

  • Create a limited time offer. Plan an amazing first date - but it’s only available for the first 3 people who accept tonight!

  • Alert to low stock available. Remind people, your friend is a once off, never to be repeated prototype. Once he/she is gone, they’re gone.

  • Invite them to join your loyalty program. Give out loyalty cards to the dates so that if they reach the 5th date, it’s on you!

Remember, it’s all about having fun. These are just some silly ideas to remind you to keep the tone light, lead with humour and let your friend’s personality shine!
