Games Night In Melbourne: Meet New People and Try Something Different

If you are looking for a fun, easy and low pressure way to meet people in Melbourne, games nights have become one of the most popular social events in the city. From board games to card games, these nights offer a relaxed environment where connection happens naturally.

Whether you are new to Melbourne, wanting to expand your social circle or simply sick of the usual bar scene, games nights are a perfect way to get out, have fun and interact with others in a genuine way.

The Perfect Social Event if You Want to Meet New People

One of the biggest challenges adults face is finding ways to meet new friends. Games night solves that by having an activity that takes the pressure off small talk. Even for the most introverted or shyest of peope, games create an ice breaker and brings out the competitive energy to make everyone more comfortable.

For anyone who finds unstructured social events (like a house party) overwhelming, games nights provide the perfect balance of activity and conversation.

Games nights are one of the few social events that appeal to both introverts and extroverts. For introverts, it takes the pressure off having to create small talk, because the activity guides the interaction. For extroverts, it offers lots of energy, conversation and movement between groups. Everyone gets to connect in their own way.

What to Expect at a Conscious Connection Games Night

The Games Night is one of our most popular events for people who want to expand their social circle - and who doesn’t love games? If you’re still thinking about whether this event is right for you, here’s an overview of what to expect on the night.

  • Attendees: 100 - 120 people attend solo, and once they arrive the host explains the format of the evening. The host will help form groups of 6 around the games. There’s usually a pretty even split of male and female attendees and due to popularity we often run the events in two different age groups; 20 - 35 and 30 - 45. The people who attend are from all walks of life - some who have just moved to Melbourne from other states, or from overseas (commonly UK, USA and NZ). We also have people whose current friendship group is changing and they’re looking to change it up.

  • Types of games: We have a wide mix of games from Uno, Pictionary, Cards Against Humanity, What Do You Meme, Jenga, Spot It and Taboo.

  • Food and drinks: Tickets include a drink on arrival and food to roam around while you play. However, event tickets may differ in inclusions so make sure to check when you book.

  • Socialising: The host will provide instructions on how and when to change tables/ games to give you the best chance to meet as many people as possible. You will have a minimum of 3 rounds of games. There will also be ice breaker games and opportunities to grab drinks at the bar throughout the evening so you’ll have plenty of chances to meet people.

  • Creating connections: When everyone’s vibing and getting into the games, it’s easy to forget to exchange numbers / socials before moving to your next game - but don’t worry, the host will keep reminding everyone before changing tables. The best part of coming to the games night is when you find your crew - whether it’s a trivia crew, a bar crawl crew or a karaoke crew.

If you enjoy events that are designed for genuine interaction instead of superficial socialising, games nights fit perfectly. They create shared moments where people can relax, be themselves and connect over something simple and fun.

Whether you have just moved to Melbourne or simply want a new style of night out, games nights are ideal for:

  • People who have recently relocated to Melbourne and looking to meet people

  • People who are looking to expand their social circle and meet new people in Melbourne

  • People who feel stuck in a rut and what to change it up

  • People who feel they’re outgrowing their current friendship circle

  • People who love adventure, fun and activities and want to meet people who enjoy the same things

  • Anyone looking for a low cost, fun night out

Whether you are new to the city or just want something more meaningful than a typical night out, a games night offers the perfect mix of fun and social interaction.
